與定鉗盤(pán)式制動(dòng)器相反，浮鉗盤(pán)式制動(dòng)器的單側(cè)液壓缸結(jié)構(gòu)不需要跨越制動(dòng)盤(pán)的油道，故不僅軸向和徑向尺寸較小，有可能布置得接近車(chē)輪輪轂，而且制動(dòng)液受熱汽化的機(jī)會(huì)較少。

此外，浮鉗盤(pán)式制動(dòng)器在兼充行車(chē)和駐車(chē)制動(dòng)器的情況下，不用加設(shè)駐車(chē)制動(dòng)鉗，只須在行車(chē)制動(dòng)鉗液壓缸附近加裝一些用以推動(dòng)液壓缸活塞的駐車(chē)制動(dòng)機(jī)械傳動(dòng)零件即可。
